A highly regarded Training GP Practice in Hyde is looking to appoint an experienced Reception Manager to lead and support its busy front-of-house and administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Primary Care professional seeking a long-term position within a supportive, well-organised Practice that is committed to high standards of patient care and continuous improvement. The Role
The Reception Manager will play a key leadership role within the Practice, overseeing the day-to-day running of reception and administrative services while ensuring an efficient, patient-focused experience. You will work closely with the Practice Management team to support operational performance, staff development, patient access, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the reception and administration function
- Supervise, support, and develop reception and administrative staff
- Manage staff rotas, annual leave, sickness absence, and staffing cover
- Handle HR processes including performance management and disciplinary procedures in line with Practice policy
- Ensure a consistently high standard of patient service and manage complaints or escalations professionally
- Support and oversee appointment systems, patient access, and workflow management
- Monitor incoming calls, Docman workflow, referrals, emails, and task allocation
- Ensure compliance with NHS guidelines, GDPR, safeguarding, and confidentiality requirements
- Maintain accurate administrative records and effective internal processes
- Support CQC preparation, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Promote efficient use of clinical systems including EMIS Web and Docman
- Act as a key liaison between patients, clinicians, staff, and external healthcare organisations
About You
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Previous management experience within a GP Practice or Primary Care setting
- Strong working knowledge of EMIS Web and Docman
- Experience managing reception or administration teams
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A calm, professional, and patient-focused approach
- The ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- A good understanding of NHS processes, patient confidentiality, and compliance standards
