A well-established GP organisation in central Bury is seeking an experienced Assistant Practice Manager to support the day-to-day running of two busy GP surgeries. Working closely with the Practice Manager, you will help oversee operations, support staff performance, improve efficiencies, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Primary Care administrator or supervisor looking to progress into a management role.

The Role

  • Supporting the operational management of two GP surgery sites
  • Leading, motivating, and developing staff teams
  • Overseeing appointment systems, patient access, workflows, and service delivery
  • Supporting CQC compliance, audits, QOF, LCS, and quality improvement projects
  • Assisting with recruitment, training, workforce planning, and staff wellbeing
  • Managing attendance, performance processes, and employee relations
  • Supporting complaints management and patient experience initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with NHS standards, GDPR, safeguarding, and practice policies
  • Supporting facilities, IT systems, risk management, and business continuity planning

About You

  • Previous experience within Primary Care / General Practice
  • Experience supervising or managing healthcare teams
  • Strong knowledge of EMIS Web and GP Practice processes
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of NHS compliance, CQC, and confidentiality requirements
