We are currently working on behalf of a successful, well-respected manufacturing business based in Alfreton who are looking for a dynamic, part qualified Commercial Finance Analyst (Costing & Pricing) to join their strong and passionate finance team. This is a newly created role that will see you contributing to the achievement of the company objectives and help optimise and maintain accurate, competitive and profitable global pricing strategies.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Take ownership of collecting and maintaining accurate costing and pricing data to establish one source of the truth across the business.
  • Work closely with the wider business to ensure data accuracy and usability, including an understanding of various costs like duty, import, and freight.
  • Develop and evaluate seasonal pricing models to stay competitive and profitable and be comfortable discussing and making recommendations on RRP’s, mark-ups, wholesale price lists, and distributor pricing models.
  • Provide pricing recommendations based on market trends and competitor analysis to help drive margin and be comfortable being part of wider discussions on NPD and minimum viable pricing.
  • Provide content for and be a lead part in Strategic Sourcing Meetings, providing insightful reporting that helps to influence factory choice and commercial decision making.
  • Play a key role in delivering a project to establish the next generation costing solution so that standard costings are accurately reflected in both current and future systems.
  • Provide day-to-day analytical support and insights that align financial performance with strategic goals, including top performing products, product, customer and range profitability analysis.
  • Identify pricing and costing trends to support planning and highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Influence the forecasting process and provide information on margin performance at category, customer and territory level.
  • Scenario planning and conveying various outcomes.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in analyst roles, preferably gained in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide reporting insight and key decision support across the function.
  • Recent, relevant experience within a busy finance team.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office packages, particularly Excel.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Experience of using an ERP accounts software package.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Proactive with a diligent approach to your work.
