We are seeking an Internal Tooling Manager to lead the development, implementation and optimisation of internal IT tools, systems and processes supporting engineering, manufacturing and operational teams. This role will focus on building secure, compliant and scalable internal platforms within a regulated UK defence environment.
This role is mainly based on-site in Cambridge, you will collaborate closely with software, engineering, security, operations and leadership teams to ensure internal systems enable rapid growth while meeting defence-grade compliance and security standards. You will need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, implement and maintain internal IT tooling, automation and business systems.
- Improve internal workflows, processes and data management across engineering and operations.
- Ensure systems align with UK defence regulations, cyber security and compliance frameworks.
- Manage integrations between internal platforms (e.g. project management, ERP, PLM, collaboration tools).
- Support secure infrastructure practices, access control and data governance.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify tooling gaps and deliver scalable solutions.
- Manage external vendors, technical partners and internal development priorities.
- Experience managing or developing internal IT tools, platforms or enterprise systems.
- Background within aerospace, defence, engineering, manufacturing or other regulated sectors.
- Strong understanding of secure systems design, compliance and data governance.
- Experience improving operational workflows through technology and automation.
- Comfortable working on-site in Cambridge in a fast-paced environment.
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
- Experience in defence cyber standards or regulated environments (e.g. ISO27001, NIST, MOD frameworks).
- Exposure to PLM, ERP, DevOps tooling or engineering collaboration platforms.
- UAV, robotics or high-growth technology company experience.
- Technical background in software, systems engineering or infrastructure.
