Food plays a vital role within our hospices – and as a Cook at CHAS, you’ll be at the heart of delivering nutritious, safe and thoughtfully prepared meals that support children, families, staff and volunteers every day. You’ll support the smooth day-to-day running of the hospice kitchen, working alongside the Catering Manager to prepare, cook and serve meals for children, families, staff and visitors. The role involves planning menus that meet a wide range of dietary needs, maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards, and helping to ensure the kitchen is a calm, well-organised and supportive space. You’ll also help guide catering assistants and volunteers, contributing to a positive team environment where everyone feels supported and valued. The role is based within the hospice Support Services team and supports the delivery of a safe and consistent catering service for children, families, staff and visitors.

About You
- Experience in catering or food preparation, including cooking and serving meals
- Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety & allergens
- Ability to plan and prepare menus that meet diverse dietary needs
- Experience supporting and working as part of a team, including volunteers
- Good organisational skills, including stock control and maintaining a clean kitchen
- A caring, respectful approach and confidence communicating with families, staff and visitors
