Overall Purpose of the Role

To work in the kitchen, ensuring the production of high-quality food while following all legal requirements in line with contractual obligations and company expectations.

The role is responsible for delivering excellent food while maintaining full compliance with health and safety and food safety requirements at all times.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept clean at all times, including the safe and correct use of cleaning equipment.
  • Clean kitchen equipment as required.
  • Operate the pan wash machine safely and efficiently.
  • Return all cleaned equipment to the correct storage location.
  • Prepare vegetables for use by chefs as requested.
  • Vacuum pack food items as requested.
  • Check, receive, and store deliveries, ensuring correct stock rotation procedures are followed.
  • Dispose of food waste, general waste, and recyclable waste in the appropriate bins.
  • Work safely at all times to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to support successful service periods.
  • Follow all training, policies, and procedures relating to health and safety, food handling, COSHH, uniform standards, personal protective equipment, manual handling, and fire regulations.
  • Complete and maintain all food safety and health and safety documentation accurately during each shift to ensure full compliance.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen throughout and at the end of each shift, reporting any health and safety hazards, issues, near misses, or accidents to a senior team member as soon as possible.
  • Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude towards requests and consistently strive to exceed customer expectations.
  • Complete all mandatory training as requested by a senior member of the team.
  • Follow all company and unit profit protection procedures and report any concerns to the line manager.
  • Assist with stocktaking when required.
  • Treat all team members with respect and professionalism.
  • Remain flexible and comply with reasonable requests from the line manager, including working in other units within a reasonable travelling distance if necessary.
  • Be capable of working independently, supervising your own work when alone, while ensuring all safety guidelines are maintained.
