Location: Cheltenham Racecourse, Prestbury Park, Cheltenham, GL50 4SH

Key Race Day Dates: You’ll have the opportunity to work across the season on the following major race days:

  • The November Meeting 2026 - Friday 13 November, Saturday 14 November & Sunday 15 November 2026
  • The Christmas Meeting 2026 - Friday 11 December & Saturday 12 December 2026
  • New Year's Day 2027 - Friday 1 January 2027
  • Festival Trials Day 2027 - Saturday 30 January 2027

Role Overview: As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen and catering facilities. You will help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation throughout the kitchen while assisting chefs and the wider catering team where required. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to all health & safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks when required
  • Operate dishwashing machinery safely and efficiently
  • Ensure waste is disposed of correctly and recycling procedures are followed
  • Replenish cleaning supplies and kitchen consumables
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods
  • Follow all food hygiene, health & safety, and COSHH regulations
  • Assist with deliveries, stock movement, and storage procedures
  • Keep floors, work surfaces, and equipment clean and sanitised at all times

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy kitchen environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work
  • Good teamwork and communication skills

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous kitchen porter, cleaning, or catering experience
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures
  • Experience working within hospitality, or contract catering environments
