Grazing is looking for an Assistant Manager to help drive a first-class onsite catering operation.

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you’ll support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of a busy onsite catering service. You’ll help lead a small, dedicated team, act as a key point of contact for clients and Grazing HQ, and ensure exceptional standards across hospitality, meeting rooms and employee dining. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a proactive mindset, strong people skills and a passion for great food and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hospitality & Client Service
    • Support the delivery of a high-quality, friendly and professional service that exceeds client expectations
    • Oversee tea & coffee points, meeting rooms and hospitality areas, ensuring they are always presented to the highest standards
    • Advise clients on catering options, assist with menu recommendations and coordinate bookings with Grazing HQ
    • Manage stock levels, place orders and check deliveries for quality and accuracy
    • Ensure all food is clearly labelled and allergen information is available at all times
    • Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, customers, the Catering Manager and Grazing HQ
  • Employee Dining
    • Assist with the daily operation of the staff dining service
    • Support food deliveries, set-up, replenishment and clear-down of lunch (and occasional breakfast) services
    • Assist with food preparation, presentation and post-service cleaning
    • Carry out daily temperature checks and follow HACCP and food safety procedures
    • Step up to manage the site in the Catering Manager’s absence, following company procedures and standards
  • Team Support & Development
    • Support the management and motivation of permanent, temporary and agency staff
    • Assist with training new and agency team members to ensure consistent standards
    • Share feedback, ideas and suggestions to improve service, reduce waste and enhance the customer experience
    • Attend regular meetings with your line manager to review performance and develop improvements

  • Previous experience in a hospitality or catering supervisory/assistant management role
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • A proactive, organised and flexible approach to work
  • Confidence supporting and leading teams
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and service standards
  • A positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
