The Role

As a Casual Chef de Partie, you'll support the delivery of high-volume, high-quality catering for a wide range of corporate and exhibition events.

You'll be expected to confidently run your own section, work independently when required, and contribute to a professional, organised kitchen environment.

This role is ideal for chefs who thrive under pressure, enjoy variety, and take pride in consistently delivering exceptional food to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and present food to agreed recipes and specifications, ensuring consistency, quality and presentation at every service.
  • Take ownership of your designated section, working independently while maintaining high culinary standards throughout preparation and service.
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering a variety of high-volume corporate events, conferences, exhibitions, banquets and hospitality functions.
  • Produce food within strict service timelines, ensuring all dishes are delivered on time without compromising quality.
  • Maintain exceptional food safety, hygiene and allergen standards in accordance with company procedures and current legislation.
  • Complete HACCP procedures, temperature records and any required food safety documentation accurately.
  • Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service, ensuring correct temperatures, freshness and portion control are maintained.
  • Follow stock rotation procedures (FIFO), assist with stock control, minimise food waste and support effective kitchen efficiency.
  • Assist with the receipt, storage and organisation of deliveries, ensuring products are stored safely and correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and audit-ready kitchen, ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Health and company standards.
  • Support menu preparation and complete all mise en place to ensure kitchens are fully prepared for service and efficient event turnaround.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen brigade and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service across multiple event spaces and varying service styles.
  • Adapt quickly to changing event schedules, guest numbers and last-minute requests while maintaining a calm, professional approach.
  • Maintain high standards of food presentation that reflect the expectations of a premium conference and exhibition venue.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and attention to detail while representing both the venue and Constellation to the highest standard.
  • Take responsibility for the correct use and care of kitchen equipment, reporting faults or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Support and encourage junior team members where appropriate, promoting best practice and a positive team culture.
  • Complete all mandatory training and comply with company policies, procedures and safe systems of work at all times.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the venue's culinary management team to support the successful delivery of events.

About You

We're looking for chefs who are passionate about delivering quality food and who enjoy working as part of a professional kitchen team.

You'll ideally have

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or an experienced Commis Chef ready to step up.
  • Experience working within high-volume catering, contract catering, banqueting, conference, exhibition or large-scale event environments.
  • Confidence running your own section with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to remain calm, organised and efficient during busy service periods.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen management.
  • Food Safety Level 2 and Allergen Awareness certification (or willingness to obtain where required).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, reliable and flexible attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • A passion for producing consistently high-quality food with excellent attention to detail.
