A bit about the role…
As an Assistant Hospitality Manager, you’ll support the Hospitality Manager in delivering exceptional customer service and outstanding hospitality across a busy university campus. You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the hospitality and events service, helping to coordinate everything from conferences and formal dinners to lunches, drinks receptions and large-scale university events. You’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting the daily delivery of hospitality across a large university campus
- Overseeing and coordinating large events, including dinners, conferences, lunches and drinks receptions
- Ensuring events and hospitality services are delivered on time and to agreed client requirements
- Working to deadlines while maintaining consistently high standards
- Planning the logistics and operational requirements of large-scale events
- Organising daily bookings and ensuring services are delivered as scheduled
- Working alongside the Hospitality Manager on administration, event bookings and staff rotas
- Coordinating permanent and casual hospitality team members
- Leading by example and providing hands-on support during events
- Supporting the training and development of hospitality staff through on-the-job coaching
- Ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times
- Supporting the Hospitality Manager with Health & Safety training and compliance
- Completing daily stock ordering and assisting with stock control
- Conducting stock takes when required and uploading information to Foodbuy Online
- Assisting with payroll and timesheet administration
- Supporting the creation of allergen menus for events using The Source
- Building strong relationships with clients, customers and colleagues
- Supporting the wider hospitality management team to deliver an exceptional guest experience

You’ll be a confident, hands-on team leader who is comfortable managing multiple priorities and ensuring everything runs smoothly, even when the pressure is on. You’ll bring:
- Previous experience in hospitality, events, catering or a similar customer-focused environment
- Experience of delivering a variety of events, including dinners, conferences, lunches and drinks receptions
- Experience leading and supporting a team
- Excellent organisational skills and a strong eye for detail
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude and plenty of personality
- The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- A proactive, flexible and hands-on approach
- The confidence to build strong relationships with clients, customers and colleagues
