Deputy Catering Manager - Dudley Zoo, Dudley | Full-Time / Permanent

Dudley Zoo , to operate the business on a day-to-day basis, ensuring the designated operational areas are run professionally, efficiently and within budgetary guidelines, meeting and exceeding visitor expectations whilst supervising and developing staff.

Accountable to comply with company policies and procedures.

This venue operates seven days per week, with the role involving working weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete accurate forecasting and reporting of financial data in accordance with set deadlines, and consult with the Catering Operations Manager to improve profitability.
  • Ensure you, your direct reports and others working within your areas of responsibility comply with current health & safety, fire safety legislation and group policies.
  • Implement and manage applicable health & safety / fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Proactively manage resources and take appropriate action to changes in the business.
  • Deputise when required in the Catering Manager's absence.
  • Ensure staff are trained in all aspects of the role, recognise training requirements and provide hands‑on support.
  • Supervise temporary staff and oversee their long‑term development, including disciplinary issues and absenteeism.
  • Deliver all standards, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Handle complaints effectively, investigate them, liaise with customers and staff and determine necessary action.
  • Demonstrate high leadership skills to foster group morale and staff motivation.
  • Allocate duties and responsibilities to all team members.
  • Ensure pre‑booked goods and services are delivered to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Control the temporary labour budget.
