About the role: We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to support our team in delivering exceptional service at the National Railway Museum in York. This full-time position (40 hours per week) is perfect for someone with a passion for hospitality, a positive attitude, and the flexibility to work across both front‑of‑house and kitchen areas. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Basic food preparation, counter set up and serving of food and beverages
  • Handling cash and card transactions accurately
  • Operating coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the café and associated working areas
  • Restocking supplies and monitoring inventory levels
  • Ensuring the highest level of customer care is delivered to customers
  • Working collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Following food hygiene, and Health & Safety guidelines in line with training which is provided

Our ideal Catering Assistant will:
