As part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, we manage over £1.5bn in spend, partnering with some of the biggest names in hospitality and foodservice to deliver smarter, more sustainable supply solutions. We’re now looking for a Category Manager (Fruit & Veg) to take ownership of a key fresh category and drive strategic growth, supplier partnerships, and commercial value.
This is a high-impact, strategic role where you’ll shape and deliver the end-to-end category strategy across fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables. You’ll work closely with suppliers, chefs, and internal teams to deliver the right product, at the right price, while embedding sustainability, provenance, and innovation into everything you do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the category strategy to drive growth, cost optimisation and innovation
- Owning supplier relationships, negotiations and contract management
- Identifying new suppliers and bringing fresh thinking into the category
- Driving sustainability initiatives and ensuring full supply chain transparency
- Working with development chefs to support menu and product development
- Delivering financial targets including inflation mitigation and commercial value
- Influencing internal stakeholders and supporting sales and bid activity
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in Category Management or Senior Buying (ideally food/fresh)
- Strong commercial acumen with negotiation and supplier management expertise
- Confident using data and insight to inform decisions and strategy
- Passion for sustainability and responsible sourcing
- A collaborative, fast-paced mindset with the ability to influence and deliver
