As the Logistics Manager at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, you will be responsible for ensuring the right furniture, equipment, and operational kit is in the right place at the right time for every event day. You will report to the Operations & Compliance Manager, lead a small variable team through event‑day setup and breakdown, conduct room and furniture audits, and centrally ensure the safe delivery of events across the venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage safe setup and breakdown of all event spaces.
  • Carry out pre‑event room checks ensuring furniture, equipment, and furnishings are correct, clean, serviceable, and safe.
  • Lead the logistics team through setup and breakdown schedules, ensuring work completed within agreed timeframes and to required standard.
  • Communicate clearly with department heads and event supervisors to confirm setup requirements.
  • Ensure all areas return to safe and secure state after events, with equipment stored correctly and damages recorded and reported.

Furniture & Equipment Audits

  • Maintain accurate inventory of all furniture and operational equipment.
  • Conduct regular audits, recording condition, quantity, and location, escalating any issues requiring repair, replacement or disposal.
  • Work with Operations & Compliance Manager to manage planned equipment review cycle.
  • Identify and report risks arising from damaged or improperly positioned furniture and equipment.

Health & Safety

  • Take personal accountability for safe working practices within the logistics operation.
  • Ensure all setup and breakdown activity follows manual handling guidance and risk assessments.
  • Conduct pre‑event safety walkthroughs and resolve hazards before handover.
  • Maintain relevant risk assessments covering logistics, furniture handling and movement.
  • Report accidents, near misses, or safety concerns promptly to Operations & Compliance Manager.
  • Ensure team briefed on emergency procedures, evacuation routes and H&S requirements.
  • Adhere to statutory and company H&S, fire, manual handling and employment law obligations.
  • Plan staff levels for each event day, ensuring sufficient team members to deliver safely.
  • Deliver clear, informative pre‑shift briefings covering the event brief, setup priorities, H&S reminders, and event‑specific requirements.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and direction to ensure safe, efficient work.
  • Identify training needs within logistics team and support delivery of on‑the‑job training.
  • Recognise and celebrate good performance within the team.

Operational Standards

  • Maintain all storage areas, back‑of‑house corridors, and equipment zones in a clean, organised, compliant state.
  • Monitor condition of event spaces during turnaround periods, identifying cleaning, maintenance or compliance issues.
  • Liaise with Facilities team and contractors for building or equipment issues outside logistics remit.
  • Support wider operations team with event‑day logistics requirements as directed.

Key Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in logistics, facilities, events operations or similar hands‑on role.
  • Strong understanding of H&S requirements in live events or hospitality environment.
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team in fast‑paced setting.
  • Strong organisational skills – able to manage equipment, spaces, and people across multiple areas simultaneously.
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling, movement of furniture and equipment, and sustained physical activity on event days.
  • Clear communicator – brief teams simply and effectively and escalates issues quickly.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) for basic reporting.
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent H&S qualification is desirable; willingness to work toward qualification essential.
  • Manual Handling certificate or training desirable.
  • Comfortable with flexible hours including match days, evenings, weekends as required by event calendar.
