Assistant Finance Manager – NEC, Birmingham | Full‑Time / Permanent

Purpose – Commercial Support

  • Effective business partnering with onsite operations team, ensuring strong commercial and operational decision making, managing financial risks and opportunities. The aim is to support ops in delivering budgeted sales, PBIT and margin as well as agreed returns for clients.
  • Deliver pro‑active financial analysis with summarised findings and recommendations to support decision making, using latest dashboards from E15 Insights covering sales, costs and relevant KPIs.
  • Take ownership of financial controls and processes for the operation, including weekly flash process, budget process, review of commercial initiatives, support of capex appraisals, and emphasis on optimising working capital.

Performance

  • Deliver analysis of key business reporting such as dashboards, month‑end reports, business reviews, client reports, budgets, flash forecasts, client requests and other ad‑hoc analysis discussed at monthly/weekly reviews.
  • Populate monthly balance sheet document for review, escalating key risks and opportunities.
  • Be responsible, along with the Venue GM, for overseeing the budgeting and forecasting process for the venue, ensuring a joined‑up and signed‑off process with the operational team.
  • Assist in training finance/operational teams in using business reporting and KPIs to improve their financial performance.
  • Monitor initiative delivery plans, challenge operational teams and highlight risks to senior stakeholders.

Key metrics include GP%, Labour to Sales ratio and unit margin %.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Use E15 insights dashboards to standardise and simplify reporting.
  • Monitor labour % as new tech is rolled out to increase venue efficiency.
  • Monitor pricing to consumers (and SPH), hospitality charges and C&E amidst inflation risks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience partnering non‑finance professionals to support delivery of financial information.
  • Qualified Accountant or finalist (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with minimum two years in a financial role.
  • Experience of management accounting, including accounting adjustments, producing reports/analysis to support commercial decision making.
  • Analytical with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Excel Macros & VBA.
  • Experience with SAP and E15 / Power BI for analysis and reporting.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
