We are looking for a reliable and experienced HGV Drainage Engineer to join a busy and expanding field team based from our Chatham depot. This is a hands-on operational role working on a variety of drainage and wastewater systems, delivering high-quality solutions across London and the Home Counties.
As an HGV Drainage Engineer you will use specialist plant and equipment to carry out planned maintenance, emergency response and fault diagnosis on drainage networks for a range of commercial, public sector and utility clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate HGV Class 2 drainage vehicles and specialist jetting/vacuum wagons to deliver high-quality drainage services.
- Carry out drainage maintenance, inspection, unblocking, root cutting, debris removal and CCTV surveys on sewer and drainage systems.
- Respond to emergency call-outs and provide reactive support as part of a 1 in 4 on-call rota.
- Accurately diagnose blockages and faults, offering practical resolutions and reporting findings promptly.
- Work safely with high-pressure jetting, drainage tooling and related plant, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Complete accurate job reporting, paperwork and service documentation for every assignment.
- Liaise professionally with clients and site contacts, representing the business with excellent customer care.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment and PPE in good working condition, reporting faults and arranging servicing as required.
- Valid HGV Class 2 licence (C) essential.
- Experience working as a drainage engineer or technician, preferably with jetting/vacuum tanker operation.
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
- Competent in using drainage equipment, CCTV technology or pipe-repair tooling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a mobile field team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Fitness and capability to work in varying outdoor environments.
- Previous experience in utilities, civil drainage or sewer maintenance.
- CPCS / NPORS / VRQ training in plant or drainage operations.
- Confined spaces awareness and compliance.
- CSCS card or equivalent health and safety certification.
- £45,000 basic salary with a strong OTE of £60,000 - £70,000.
