Netball Performance Coach

Term-time only, part-time (Flexibility in the Hours Available)

Charterhouse is seeking a driven and dynamic Netball Performance Coach to play a leading role within our competitive netball programme, with a particular focus on the 1st team and driving the standards amongst the junior teams as well.

Working closely with the Head of Netball, you will take significant responsibility for preparing and developing 1st team players, while also leading, designing and delivering high-quality training sessions across all age groups. You will play a key role in supporting and developing other coaches within the programme, ensuring consistency, progression, and excellence in coaching practice. With a focus on technical precision, tactical intelligence, and game awareness in competitive situations, you will contribute to match preparation and delivery, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and ambition throughout the netball pathway.

This role is ideally suited to a coach with proven experience in a performance environment. You will be confident working with talented athletes, guiding their progression, and implementing structured, purposeful training that translates into success in competitive fixtures. Experience in performance analysis, player feedback, and long-term athlete development will be highly valued.

Main Duties

  • Planning and delivering engaging training sessions for girls aged 13–18, catering to both participation and performance levels ensuring clear progression within the Charterhouse netball pathway.
  • Take responsibility for the preparation, performance, and ongoing development of the 1st team, driving high standards and competitive success.
  • Work closely with the Head of Netball to design and implement a cohesive, performance-focused programme aligned with the department’s strategic aims.
  • Support the development of players across all levels, identifying talent and guiding athletes through performance pathways where appropriate.
  • Support and mentor other coaches within the programme, promoting consistency, collaboration, and excellence in coaching practice.
  • Attending all home and away fixtures, ensuring pupils have a positive and competitive experience.
  • Create a positive, ambitious, and professional team culture, fostering resilience, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and pupil welfare at all times.
  • Engage in continued professional development and contribute to the ongoing development of the netball programme.
  • An interest in driving school minibuses would be preferred (training provided if necessary).

Person Specification

Successful candidates will be likely to fit the following profile:

  • Level 2 Netball Coaching Award (or equivalent) – essential
  • Higher coaching qualification (Level 3 or above) – desirable
  • First Aid and Safeguarding certification – desirable (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience of coaching at all levels in an educational setting would be beneficial.
  • High levels of personal and professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
  • Positive rapport with pupils.
  • A strong work ethic and flexible attitude.

Sport at Charterhouse

Sport is at the heart of life at Charterhouse, with over 20 sports offered and more than 970 fixtures played annually. The department is made up of 10 dedicated staff who coach and lead teams across all three terms, including pre-season camps and overseas tours. The Charterhouse Athlete Programme (CAP) provides conditioning support, workshops, and seminars for talented athletes, while the co-curricular programme ensures all pupils can participate in sports at a level that suits them.
