Charterhouse is seeking a Library Assistant to join our friendly team in the Witheridge Library, a beautiful Victorian building at the heart of one of the UK's leading independent schools. The Library is a busy and welcoming space used extensively for reading, study and research. Home to more than 30,000 books as well as a wide range of digital resources, it plays a central role in supporting pupils and staff across the School.
About the Role
Working as part of a team of four, you will help provide an outstanding library service to our pupils and staff. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of the Library, including shelving, stock management and issue desk duties
- Assisting pupils and staff in making the best use of library resources
- Creating engaging displays and promoting reading for pleasure
- Recommending books, particularly fiction for teenagers
- Helping to maintain a welcoming, purposeful and well-organised environment
Full training will be provided.

- Enjoys working with young people and providing excellent customer service
- Has good IT skills and attention to detail
- Is confident, organised and able to work independently when required
- Can contribute positively to a busy and friendly team

Working Hours
This is a term-time only position, plus one week before the start of each academic year. Working hours are spread across five days per week and include one evening duty per week during term time and Sunday afternoon working during part of the year.
