Overview

Are you a commercially savvy professional with a passion for food and a knack for managing purchasing and imports? As our client continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Purchasing & Imports Manager to take ownership of purchasing, imports, stock availability, and supplier management functions. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing the full purchasing lifecycle—from supplier forecasting and imports to stock control, compliance, and commercial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full purchasing lifecycle, from supplier forecasting and ordering to product availability and lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate weekly imports from Europe, including customs documentation, health certificates, and import declarations.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across Spain, Europe, and the UK.
  • Negotiate supplier pricing, challenge cost increases, and protect business margins.
  • Oversee the goods-in process, ensuring accurate receipting, batch tracking, and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations on inventory management, stock adjustments, and batch traceability.
  • Support stock investigations, line checks, and monthly stock takes.
  • Manage purchasing forecasts and stock planning based on sales trends, seasonal demand, and promotions.
  • Produce weekly and monthly purchasing, stock, and availability reports for senior management.
  • Analyse stockholding, availability risks, and purchasing performance to support decision-making.
  • Manage supplier technical documentation and compliance records.
  • Lead product non-conformance investigations and supplier corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Buyer, Purchasing, or Supply Chain role.
  • Strong understanding of imports, customs procedures, and supplier management.
  • Experience in food, FMCG, wholesale, or distribution sectors.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing forecasting, stock control, and inventory processes.
  • Commercial awareness and analytical capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of BRCGS standards, food compliance, or customs processes (advantageous).
