Data Governance Manager
Hybrid, London – City
Full time, Permanent
Salary: £55,000-£65,000

Your role
As the Data Governance Manager at the CII, you will enhance and refine the data governance framework to support the Institute\’s strategic objectives safely and legally. You will ensure compliance with UK and Ireland\’s legislative requirements, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, while handling queries related to the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Your expertise will cover both personally identifiable data and broader business data, ensuring good data governance standards and processes. You will advise on data-related risks for major projects, assist data processing agreements, and oversee the management of Data Protection policies. Collaborating with IT and information security teams, you will lead data protection projects, develop a data management system aligned with ISO 27001 standards, and ensure all CII group data is mapped.
Additionally, you will steer the data governance working group, advise on ISO27001 compliance, align IT strategy with data protection requirements, and conduct data protection awareness training. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the Institute maximizes the value of data insights while maintaining compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.
You
- You are a confident and experienced Data Governance Manager, comfortable navigating all levels of the Institute.
- You have experience of using MS Purview
- You have a broad understanding of data governance and risk within membership or professional body organisations.
- You are equipped with relevant Data Protection qualifications or extensive hands-on experience in tackling data protection challenges.
- You are experienced working within, or delivering, ISO27001 certification and applying data management principles.
- You are skilled in drafting data sharing agreements, privacy notices, and conducting DPIAs.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and a pro at handling general administrative tasks.
