Job Purpose

The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and usability of our data systems while contributing to the broader strategic goals of the organisation and will report to the Data Architect.

The directorate delivers outstanding services to members, customers and the wider sector through a modern, customer-centric approach.

By leveraging innovative technology, it provides an exceptional customer and member experience; harnesses the power of data to generate meaningful insights that create value for the Institute and its members; and delivers impactful programmes of work that drive sustainable value, operational excellence and meaningful outcomes for stakeholders.

Data Analyst/Engineer • Hybrid, London - City • Full time, 12 Month FTC • Salary: Up to £75,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Conduct detailed analysis of large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that align with their goals.
  • Ensure data models support accurate and scalable reporting, by configuring data integrity exception models and insights
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualisations to provide insights for stakeholders.
  • Data Engineering
  • Assist the Enterprise or Data Architect in designing, building, and maintaining scalable ingestion data pipelines for the integration of diverse systems.
  • Optimise data workflows and processes to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate on database design and support database optimisation to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Data Governance and Compliance
  • Support the implementation of data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Work alongside the Data Architect to ensure data security measures align with GDPR and organisational policies.
  • Monitor and maintain data accuracy through validation processes and cleansing activities.
  • Assist in the management of data subject access requests and breach notifications, as needed.
  • Work with DPO to build Records of Processing Activity
  • Assist the Data Architect with building data flow maps for business processes
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with the Data Architect to align data solutions with strategic organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with IT, project managers, and business analysts to support data-driven projects and ensure effective data utilisation.
  • Work with business stakeholders to ensure effective data process maps are established for "as is" and "to be" states.
  • Train business users on self-service analytics tools, including Power BI, to promote data literacy across the organisation.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data processing and reporting capabilities using modern tools and technologies.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in data analysis, engineering, and visualisation.
  • Proactively suggest and implement improvements to current data workflows and reporting processes.

Educational Background

  • Required, certifications in Power BI, Azure, Data Analytics or related data technologies
  • Desirable bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience in data engineer and analysis and reporting, including advanced Power BI / MS Fabric/Power platform skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and database technologies (e. g., SQL Server, Azure SQL, My SQL, DB2).
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies
  • Knowledge of data modelling and schema design for both structured and unstructured data.
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR compliance and data governance best practices.
  • Proficiency in integrating and working with various systems, including CRM and ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Experience working in Agile and Dev Ops environments
