At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. This is an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager for the largest logistics and distribution in the UK! Working within the distribution & Fulfilment category, you will work closely with internal colleagues and external partners to meet all Tesco Group Fleet and Engineering requirements covering Tesco, Booker Retail and Cash & Carry, One Stop, Best Food Logistics and Venus Wines.

This role drives value for money and efficiencies through the procurement life cycle, as well as partnering with colleagues to ensure that Tesco has a robust fleet strategy balancing the needs of the business, health and safety requirements, legal compliance, advancing technology and environmental challenges.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering sub-category plans aligned to Category Plans by being innovative and emerging industry technologies, Tesco environmental targets in collaboration with various cross-functional colleagues.
  • Delivering high savings targets through implementation of robust sourcing events, ensuring that suppliers meet all operational requirements whilst providing the best value for Tesco which align back to category plans which will cover both Capex and Opex spend.
  • Delivery cost savings plans supplying to Save to Invest targets, consistently supervise and report on savings targets with forecast accuracy working to the agreed processes.
  • Creation of RFP/RFI's/e-auction through to conclusion with attention on ensuring open and fair competition throughout the process.
  • Forging strong working relationships internally and developing new and existing supplier relationships to influence and ensure continued suitability, crafting greater value across the organisation.
  • Evaluate current and potential suppliers for Tesco, reducing risk and improving service quality through effective supplier reviews.
  • Contract creation, review, and negotiation. Point of contact for contract related matters.
  • Opportunity for individual development in procurement with exposure to fast-paced ground-breaking projects.

You will need:

  • Strong commercial competence and negotiation skills.
  • Phenomenal interpersonal skills and experience of cross-functional working and customer engagement.
  • Experience of working in a large scale organisation, running large multi-million pound sourcing events and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of delivering change through influencing and challenging the norm, as well as bringing new concepts, innovation and ideas to life.
  • Continual improvement attitude.
  • Ability to influence senior colleagues.
  • Supplier relationship and workload leadership skills.
  • High level of curiosity about vehicle technologies, motor industry and environmental initiatives, keeping up to date with market innovations.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification preferred or be working towards.
  • At least 3 years' procurement/buying experience preferably within distribution/fleet.
