Join our Power Commercial team as a Commercial Manager and you will deliver complex work that really matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the industry.
We encourage both full-time and part-time applications. We know that the right person for the role may not always be able to commit to full-time hours.
Purpose of the role:- Responsible for the financial management of a major, complex project(s) or a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts and then commercially delivering projects often worth many tens of millions of pounds.
- Integral part of the project senior leadership team where they hold key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project.
- Experienced individuals who have risen through the ranks of the industry and their role is broad and includes anything from risk management to procurement, financial reporting and managing the supply chain.
- Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership. They will also have an extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility and a talent for negotiation.
- Track record of managing and developing a commercial team and be themselves a Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB, and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.
- Provides commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction.
- To support the review tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews.
- To manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project, including the associated risks.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.
- To be able to report and explain the commercial progress to senior divisional staff.
- Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
- Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts.
- Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles.
- Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions.
- Management of disallowed cost.
- Gives advice on training & development including professional involvement with Schools & Universities to promote BB as a potential employer and to support sponsored students.
- Leading on collating costs and maximising value on a large project or portfolio of projects.
- Leading on and embedding a mindset within the team of financial and commercial control within a project(s).
- Demonstration of Strategic Change Management.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of procuring and managing supply chain.
- Maintain a Personal Development Plan to ensure continuous personal and professional development.
- Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to ensure development of talent and succession within the team.
- Demonstration of working to deadlines including effective delegation, working efficiently and to a high standard.
- Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects.
- Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed (achievement focus).
- Proactively manage opportunities, risks and threats.
- MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of education or experience.

- Competitive Salary
- This role is available on a full-time or partโtime basis. 37.5 hours Monday to Friday.
