Job Title: Manufacturing Goods in and Dispatch Manager

Location – Sudbury Factory, Suffolk

Salary ranging from £55,000 to £60,000 plus a 17% car allowance and potential bonus + excellent benefits

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to join our Purina team at the Sudbury Factory in Suffolk. As part of the Factory senior leadership team, reporting to the Factory Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing physical logistics activities, driving continuous improvement in safety, cost, and performance, with hands-on management of the factory logistics team.

Our Sudbury factory employs around 200 staff and produces some of the UK\’s most popular brands including Go-Cat, Bakers, Purina ONE, BETA, and Pro Plan, providing a product to meet every need. Located in the scenic Stour valley, Sudbury is an ideal place for animal lovers, with the added advantage of being just 45 minutes from London by train from Colchester.

Manufacturing at Nestlé focuses on delivering high-quality products at the right time and place while maximizing efficiency and productivity. This role is pivotal as we continue our journey towards becoming a LEAN Enterprise, marking the biggest change in our work practices ever seen at Nestlé worldwide. A Day in the Life of a Logistics Manager…

You will be responsible for the end-to-end logistics and distribution of finished goods, managing daily operations and coordinating with logistics partners, acting as the escalation point for operational issues.

Additional duties include:

  • Setting and tracking KPIs for warehousing service and costs
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives using best practices and tools
  • Managing Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, and CARE regulations
  • Driving cost-saving initiatives to improve warehouse performance
  • Managing the warehousing budget and investment planning
  • Supporting procurement in contract negotiations and managing relationships with service providers
  • Influencing distribution management, production planning, and customer service to enhance service and reduce costs
  • Supporting LEAN initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensuring compliance and managing audits within your area

What Will Make You Successful?

Success in this role requires proven operational leadership experience in warehouse management at a market or business level. You should be able to inspire trust and transparency, motivating your team to excel.

Key attributes include:

  • Proven track record in projects such as warehouse design, distribution network redesign, high-performance logistics, and customer logistics
  • Hands-on people management experience, leading a team of approximately 12 staff
  • Experience in manufacturing environments involving goods in and dispatch functions
  • Experience with LEAN principles and tools (desirable)
  • Strong business planning, budget control, and cost management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
