About the role

Join Beatty's Major Projects team as a Buyer for Rolls Royce in Derby, and help deliver critical infrastructure that powers communities across the region. This is a 15-month fixed term contract (maternity cover), however, due to a solid pipeline of work and endless opportunities for growth and development, there is potential for this role to be made permanent.

Accountable for conducting tenders and obtaining quotes, analysing data, regular reporting and ensuring compliance to internal policies and procedures. The Buyer, as part of the wider Programme Procurement team, will be expected to support any initiatives and processes, and actively contribute to the delivery of the team's strategy. The role will require regular supplier and subcontractor sourcing, engagement and support. The successful candidate will be a point of contact for the Programme Team within the project applicable. They will be responsible for running the procurement activity for given packages of work, fulfilling significant / complex material requisitions to point of order as well as supporting with supply chain. This includes accountability for the creation of Supply Chain Strategies, Intelligence Reports, Procurement Schedules as well as support of other procurement teams on the Programme. The successful candidate will also be tasked with ensuring utilisation of group agreements by the business and the subcontract supply chain.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders
  • Identifying key trends or opportunities for cost reduction
  • Negotiating discounts and savings & ensuring accurate reporting of such along with value add activities
  • Supplier performance management
  • Ensuring adherence to procurement processes and procedures

Who we're looking for

  • 2+ years' experience within a Procurement role
  • Highly results orientated (proven ability to complete tasks efficiently and promptly, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines)
  • Highly organised

  • Strong team player
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Flexible and driven
  • Customer focussed
  • Problem solving skills, ability to use own initiative to identify areas of improvement & propose solutions.

  • Knowledge of Subcontract Procurement Process (desired)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to achieve security clearances including BPSS and SC
