This is a pivotal career development role for a motivated and energetic procurement professional who can clearly demonstrate comprehensive and credible end-to-end procurement experience, ideally within related industry sectors and/or logistics/transport categories. The role is based in Hawthorn VIC and supports the ANZ procurement team of the world’s leading sustainable building materials company. It is a permanent, full-time position.
About the opportunity
In this key position you will develop and deploy robust procurement strategies in close collaboration with the category management team. You will leverage your initiative, negotiation skills, and communication skills to engage internal stakeholders, maintain effective supplier relationships and standards, and optimise procurement outcomes in line with current and future strategic requirements. The role places a particular emphasis on the ANZ Logistics Category, which includes third-party bulk material transportation services and the company truck fleet.
Key responsibilities
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement projects and initiatives at all operational levels.
- Lead RFx processes for regional, project and/or sub-category items as defined by the broader category strategy.
- Manage regional spot buying for large volume or business critical items not covered by existing agreements, including RFx management and supplier selection.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to facilitate scopes of work, quality standards, KPIs, volume requirements, pricing targets and other supplier key deliverables.
- Negotiate supplier non-conformances and execute supply/service agreement templates, in coordination with category management.
- Analyse spend data to identify opportunities and monitor realised savings.
- Support supplier performance measurement and management processes.
- Serve as a credible procurement representative to the wider business and influence decision-making through strong partner relationships.
- Engage with operations early in the procurement lifecycle to ensure optimum value and process discipline.
- Ensure compliance with national and regional category strategies and company requirements.
- Champion new ideas and initiatives to drive change and innovation in procurement.
- Comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations and policies.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Additional relevant postgraduate procurement qualifications are desirable.
- Comprehensive end-to-end experience in logistics or transport procurement.
- Expertise in supplier relationship management and value-focused solutions.
- Proven experience in project management and implementation of value-generation opportunities.
- Strong strategic sourcing and category management expertise.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Passionate advocate of a cost-conscious culture.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for all levels.
- Strong analytical and execution skills with understanding of key cost drivers.
- Knowledge of market dynamics, usage, total cost of ownership, and should-cost models.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
