Company: EG Group

About the Role

EG Group are seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to build and embed a fit-for-purpose procurement function as a core component of the end-to-end Procure to Pay (P2P) process within Finance Shared Services. Reporting into the Global Process Owner for P2P, this is a foundational role within a fast-paced, high-growth organisation. As EG Group continues to scale, this role has been created to establish and formalise a centralised procurement capability that matches the ambition and complexity of the organisation. Working in close partnership with Accounts Payable and senior stakeholders across the business, you will build the processes, governance, and supplier management frameworks that will underpin the next phase of the company's growth. This role will suit an experienced procurement leader who is energised by building and shaping a function from the ground up, someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable where structure is still evolving, and is ready to make a lasting mark on the organisation. In short, you will create the playbook, not inherit one.

Why Join EG Group?

  • Discretionary performance-based bonus scheme
  • Grow your career - gain accredited qualifications, apprenticeships, and progression opportunities within a global organisation
  • Flexible working hours
  • Hybrid working - up to 2 days per week (dependent on role and business needs)
  • Salary Sacrifice Schemes - Cycle to Work and Car Scheme available
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity leave
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Annual leave buy back scheme - purchase up to 5 additional days
  • Discounted gym membership - stay healthy and save on fitness costs
  • One paid volunteering day per year
  • Wellbeing facilities - space to relax and recharge
  • Free secure on-site parking
  • Dress Down Fridays
  • Free VDU eye test

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and implementing core procurement processes from scratch - purchase orders, approval workflows, supplier onboarding, and contract management
  • Establishing standardised payment terms and embedding governance and controls across the organisation
  • Building a contracts database and creating the policies, templates, and tools the business needs to operate consistently
  • Developing category strategies for key areas of third-party spend
  • Working across departments to understand current buying behaviours and influencing stakeholders at all levels to drive adoption of new procurement processes and ways of working
  • Leading change management efforts to shift the organisational culture around purchasing and supplier management
  • Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks and building supplier performance management capability across critical categories
  • Defining the future procurement operating model, identifying where technology investment is needed, and building the case for it

This list is not exhaustive and may be added to or amended from time to time.

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years in procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership capacity
  • Demonstrable experience building or significantly transforming a procurement function, ideally within an organisation at a low level of procurement maturity
  • Experience implementing foundational procurement infrastructure - PO systems, contract repositories, and payment term standardisation
  • Strong change leadership with the ability to influence and bring stakeholders on the journey when introducing new ways of working
  • A pragmatic approach - able to balance best practice with what is operationally achievable in the short term
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively without formal authority
  • Hands-on and comfortable working at an operational level while building out the team and function
  • Resilient and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where ways of working are still being established
