Location: West Midlands

Salary: £35k - £40k per annum (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time, permanent

We are working with a well-established, profitable and credible sub-contractor in the construction industry who have a full order book of projects lined up for next year and going forwards. They deliver high quality work and benefit from repeat business from Tier 1 contractors. We are seeking a Buyer / Purchasing Administrator to strengthen their procurement and commercial function. You will have experience within a purchasing team in the construction industry and be looking for an exceptional opportunity to develop and progress into a Senior Buyer/Buyer.

Responsibilities

  • Support the procurement of materials and subcontractor services for projects
  • Raise purchase orders, issue enquiries, negotiate with suppliers, and monitor delivery schedules
  • Purchasing administration: processing requisitions, purchase orders, goods-in records, supplier data, updating systems
  • Maintain supplier relationships - evaluate performance, check compliance, resolve issues
  • Work closely with site and commercial teams to align procurement to project requirements
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive procurement efficiencies

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing/purchasing administration within the construction sector
  • Good negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Strong organisational skills, able to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of construction materials would be ideal
