We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Receptionist to join our team here in Cookham. You’ll be the first person our guests, delegates, staff and visitors meet—so making a great impression is key. This isn’t just about checking people in and out (though you’ll do plenty of that). It’s about creating a smooth, welcoming experience from start to finish, keeping things running behind the scenes, and making sure every guest leaves happy.
What you’ll be doing:
- Welcoming guests and getting them checked in and out efficiently
- Making sure bookings are accurate, rooms are allocated correctly, and everything is ready for arrival
- Handling guest queries with confidence and a smile
- Answering the main CIM switchboard and directing calls
- Managing B&B and group bookings, making sure everything is logged correctly
- Keeping records up to date and well organised
- Coordinating group bookings and flagging any overbooking issues
- Managing a daily float and handling payments responsibly
- Making sure all charges are applied correctly before check‑out
- Balancing and banking daily takings, and keeping everything secure
- Signing in delegates, contractors, and visitors
- Helping with course paperwork and directions
- Booking taxis, answering questions, and generally being the go-to person
What we’re looking for:
- Confident communicator with a friendly, professional approach
- Comfortable juggling multiple tasks at once
- Basic IT skills (nothing too fancy, but you’ll need to pick things up quickly)
- Previous experience in a hotel or similar reception role
- Familiarity with front-of-house systems (e.g. booking or guest management software)
- You’re just as comfortable working independently as you are in a team
- You’re keen to learn and get stuck into all aspects of CIM and The Business Centre
- You stay calm under pressure and keep things running smoothly
What you’ll get:
- 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays (pro rata)
- Training and development opportunities
- Dedicated wellness initiatives and wellness hub that supports your wellbeing (including EAP)
