Your new company is a family-owned SME manufacturer with a prestigious product, based just outside Birmingham city centre to the south.

Your new role involves working closely with the Managing Director in a number one role within a busy finance function, leading a team of 2. The role includes a blend of day-to-day Controller responsibilities and improvements to financial reporting, as well as attending monthly board meetings.

Key duties include:

  • Developing financial strategies, including risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting.
  • Regular budget consolidation.
  • Cash flow management.
  • Improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
  • Payroll processing.
  • Working closely with management or executive teams to share reports and analysis findings.
  • Management accounting including analysis and reporting.
  • Preparation of month-end financials to a tight reporting timetable.
  • Preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
  • Monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliation review.
  • Manage external and internal audits.
  • Cashflow forecasting and tracking.
  • Support ad hoc projects to improve processes, systems, and efficiencies throughout company operations.

What you'll need to succeed:

We are looking for a fully qualified candidate who is either operating at Finance Manager or Controller level and is used to a hands-on multi-faceted role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading a small team, overseeing all aspects of the role, and working with the MD and the board on presenting the numbers. The role is mainly office-based, so candidates must be happy in an office environment. Previous knowledge of manufacturing or similar sectors would be hugely beneficial.
