We are seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Technologist with 3 years UK experience to join our team and play a key role in the technical design and delivery of projects across a diverse range of sectors. The role as an Architectural Technologist, you will contribute to the successful delivery of architectural projects from technical design through to construction. Working closely with colleagues, clients, consultants, and contractors, you will help develop robust technical solutions that align with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and the practice’s commitment to design excellence. Key responsibilities
- Design & technical delivery
- Develop technical design proposals in response to project briefs, studio standards, and statutory requirements.
- Produce detailed drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation, primarily across RIBA Work Stages 3-7.
- Support the preparation and submission of planning applications and technical approval packages.
- Ensure all technical information is accurate, coordinated, and compliant with current UK Building Regulations and relevant legislation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning policy, construction standards, and industry best practice.
- Participate in internal design reviews, technical discussions, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
- Project coordination
- Collaborate effectively with architects, technologists, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Attend client meetings, design workshops, site inspections, and project reviews as required.
- Assist senior team members in managing project programmes, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination and ensure clear communication throughout project development and construction phases.
- Actively contribute to team meetings, design reviews, studio charrettes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support and mentor junior colleagues where appropriate.
- Champion and uphold D5’s values of creativity, collaboration, sustainability, progressiveness, and responsibility.
- Contribute to studio-wide sustainability objectives and quality assurance processes.
- Help maintain a positive, innovative, and collaborative studio culture.
About you
You will be a technically skilled and proactive Architectural Technologist with a passion for delivering well-considered architectural solutions. You will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Essential qualifications
- HNC/HND in a construction-related discipline, Degree in Architectural Technology, or equivalent qualification.
- Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (ACIAT).
Skills & experience
- ACIAT-registered Architectural Technologist.
- Minimum of three years UK experience.
- Strong technical design, detailing, and presentation capabilities.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Sound understanding of UK construction methods, Building Regulations, planning processes, and technical standards.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines.
- Comfortable working collaboratively while also taking ownership of individual responsibilities.
