Delivered through more than 60 business schools across the UK, the programme has already supported over 13,000 business leaders and continues to create lasting impact.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Marketing & Communications to lead our Demand Generation team and play a pivotal role in the continued success and growth of the Help to Grow: Management programme. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior marketing leader with strong B2B experience and a passion for delivering purposeful work that contributes directly to the UK economy.

You will lead a team responsible for driving awareness, registrations and engagement across the Help to Grow: Management Course, Help to Grow: Management Essentials, and Alumni Network activities. You will oversee integrated marketing strategy across paid media, PR, content, stakeholder engagement, events and customer journeys—ensuring campaigns deliver measurable impact and excellent value.

Working closely with government teams, business schools and internal stakeholders, you will help shape the future direction of a programme with national reach and influence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the development and delivery of the annual demand generation strategy.
    • Identify opportunities to improve awareness, engagement and registrations.
    • Drive innovation by testing new channels and marketing approaches.
    • Ensure activity delivers against agreed KPIs and acquisition targets.
    • Manage and develop a high-performing team of 9, including 5 direct reports.
    • Conduct regular 1:1s, team meetings and performance reviews.
    • Coach and mentor team members to encourage growth and innovation.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture.
  • Campaign & Brand Management
    • Lead integrated multi-channel campaigns across paid, organic and content channels.
    • Own brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all communications.
    • Drive the development of messaging frameworks and tone of voice.
  • Content & Communications
    • Oversee content strategy across websites, campaigns and alumni platforms.
    • Lead the use of personas and audience insights to shape campaigns.
    • Ensure all content and communications maintain a high editorial standard.
    • Oversee SEO strategy and content performance.
  • PR & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Manage PR agency relationships and alumni-led media opportunities.
    • Build strong relationships with delivery partners and government stakeholders.
    • Support ambassador and advocacy initiatives.
  • Customer Journey & Performance
    • Drive improvements in website conversion and nurture journeys.
    • Champion a culture of testing, learning and optimisation.
    • Use data and reporting to support decision-making and improve results.
  • Budget & Reporting
    • Manage annual budgets and forecasts.
    • Ensure activity delivers strong ROI and cost efficiency.
    • Produce regular reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

About You:

You are a commercially minded and strategic marketing leader with strong track record in B2B communications and demand generation. You bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands‑on execution and enjoy working in collaborative, fast‑paced environments.

  • Significant content marketing and communications experience
  • PR campaign and agency management experience
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience using customer insight and personas to shape campaigns
  • Team leadership and people development experience
  • Budget ownership and ROI management experience
  • Event marketing experience
  • Strong analytical and reporting capability
  • Understanding of GDPR
  • Public sector or government stakeholder experience
  • Knowledge of SMEs and the small business market
  • Experience managing direct and indirect marketing channels
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Monday.com
