The Trust has reached the point where IT needs dedicated management. The Trust currently holds contracts with two managed service providers. One of those contracts is ending in 2026, and that work will be transferred into our main provider contract. At the same time, we are delivering our 2026 to 2030 IT strategy, which includes moving to a single Microsoft tenancy and refreshing network infrastructure and end-user devices across all nine schools.

Our central team is small and purposeful. The IT Manager will sit within the operations function and report to the Estates Director, who is responsible for estates operations across the Trust. You will work closely with our IT consultants on the delivery of strategy, with our managed service provider on day-to-day operations, and with school business managers and headteachers across all nine schools.

What skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Managing IT contracts in a multi-site setting
  • Experience of consolidation or tenancy migration work

What the school offers its staff:

  • Competitive Salaries
  • Pension Scheme
  • Competitive holiday entitlement
  • Opportunities for flexible working
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Season Ticket Loans

Further details about the role:

Day-to-day, you will be managing a Trust-wide MSP contract, owning the IT asset registers, approving purchases, and making sure schools get the IT service they need both now and for the future. You will not be doing the technical fix-it works yourself. The provider does that. You are the person who knows what we have, what we need, what we are buying, what it costs. You will be responsible for working with the MSP to ensure the Trust’s digital systems are secure, resilient, and fit for purpose, and that we are working towards the DfE Digital and Technology Standards, providing assurance to senior leaders and Trustees on cyber security, data protection, and operational reliability.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:

The Charter Schools Educational Trust is committed to equality and diversity, and to being a family where everyone can be themselves. We are committed to continuous improvement in how representative we are of our local communities, including gender, ethnicity, religion, age, and all other aspects of diversity. We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, and staff networks to provide a supportive environment in the workplace where members can receive peer to peer support. The Charter Schools Educational Trust is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people and expects all its staff to share this commitment.
