We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of our Howden Axial Fans business unit, based in Denmark. This is a high-impact position that offers the chance to take full ownership of the P&L and balance sheet, while supporting strategic decision-making across projects and reporting cycles. This is an exciting time to join Howden as we prepare for our acquisition by Baker Hughes in 2026—a period of transformation and opportunity. Based in Renfrew, you’ll also travel to Denmark (approximately 10%) to build strong relationships and ensure seamless integration of financial reporting across borders. If you’re a qualified accountant ready to step into a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

What you will do:

  • Ownership of the monthly financial and management reporting, taking the lead on balance sheet reporting and overhead cost analysis as well as liaising with project controllers on sales and margin reporting.
  • Ownership of group reporting in OneStream for weekly, monthly and quarterly submissions, ensuring group reporting deadlines are met and reporting is completed with a high level of accuracy.
  • Working with project controllers to manage the performance of ongoing projects.
  • Preparation of company forecasts and budgets.
  • Responsibility for VAT compliance and reporting.
  • Key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Preparation of the statutory accounts.
  • Ensuring relevant SOX controls are adhered to and sufficient supporting documentation is retained.
  • Supporting the transition and integration into the UK finance team of Howden Axial Fans financial reporting from Denmark.
  • Coaching and helping to develop junior team members.
  • Involvement in ad-hoc projects as required.

What do you bring?

  • Qualified accountant with post qualifying experience.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP / FRS102 / IFRS.
  • High level of ability in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong and clear communication and facilitation skills.
  • Self-management skills and the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Experience of D365 or similar ERP system.
  • Previous percentage of completion and project accounting experience.
  • Previous experience with UK and overseas VAT.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to interact with different people from various departments and other group companies.
  • Ability to work in an environment with a significant change element.

This is a permanent position based at our headquarters in Renfrew, including an early finish on Friday. Our range of fantastic benefits includes:

  • A flexible, hybrid working environment (2 or 3 days a week in the office).
  • Generous holiday entitlement package totalling 33 days annual leave.
  • Howden Pension Plan with a maximum employer contribution of 7%.
  • Company electric vehicle scheme through salary sacrifice.
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity, shared parental and adoption leave pay.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Group Income Protection plan.
  • Access to My Howden Benefits & Wellbeing Portal – Cycle2Work programme, range of discounts across various retailers, employee assistance programme, wealth of information to support health & wellbeing.
