As Project Manager at Howden, you’ll be at the heart of our special projects - coordinating activity, solving problems, and ensuring every project moves smoothly from handover to final payment. What you will do:

  • Manage projects from sales handover through to delivery and final payment.
  • Act as the main internal point of contact, coordinating closely with Project Managers and cross functional teams.
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities - driving investigations, ensuring timely resolution, and communicating outcomes clearly.
  • Create accurate project datasheets, load project information into MRP and document control systems, and maintain up to date schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or delays early, and work with teams to recover to baseline.
  • Report project status, risks, financials, and forecasts to management.
  • Manage budgets, cashflow forecasting, invoicing, and margin improvement opportunities.

What do you bring?

An ideal candidate would likely have the following profile:

  • Experience managing projects or working closely within project delivery in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence dealing with internal stakeholders and customer related issues.
  • A proactive, solutions focused mindset - able to think laterally, resolve issues, and drive corrective actions.
  • Evidence of leadership, influencing, negotiation, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver against time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Competence with Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of compressors or rotating machinery.
  • Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, refrigeration, heat pump, biogas, or vapour recovery sectors.
  • HNC or higher in a relevant technical discipline.

Working style and pattern:

  • Flexible hybrid working - minimum two days per week in the Renfrew office.
  • Occasional domestic or international travel to suppliers or customers.
