Role Description
The Therapeutic Care Mentor is a full-time, on-site role based in the Leicestershire area.
In this position, the mentor will provide consistent, therapeutic support to young people in a residential setting, helping them develop coping skills, resilience, and positive routines.
Day-to-day tasks include building trusting relationships, supporting individualized care plans, and facilitating structured activities that promote emotional and social development.
The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to regular reviews of each young person’s progress.
The mentor will also help ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, while modeling appropriate behavior and promoting life skills and independence.
Qualifications
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Interpersonal Communication abilities to build trust and rapport with young people and colleagues.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication, to contribute to care planning and documentation.
- Experience Working With Children, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, in residential, educational, or community settings.
- Community Outreach experience or awareness, supporting engagement with local services, schools, and support networks.
- Relevant training or qualifications in social care, youth work, psychology, education, or a related field.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, use de-escalation techniques, and follow safeguarding and safety procedures.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, in line with the needs of the home.
- Basic IT and record-keeping skills to maintain accurate notes and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Experience within Residential Childcare preferred.
