The predicted salary is between 25500 - 36000 £ per year.

Career Graded Post with salary range of £30,559 – £41,511 and essential car user allowance plus £3,000 per year market supplement for up to three years.

Progression to SO1 (£33,366) subject to attainment of full corporate membership of RTPI. Progression to PO1 (£38,626) subject to supervision of junior staff and increased responsibilities defined in Scheme of Delegation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Working in a team of development management specialists, you will help deliver an effective and efficient planning service through the determination of a varied caseload of planning applications ranging from householders to major development proposals (depending on your level of experience). The role will provide you with experience of working with a variety of teams across Council departments and with elected representatives as well as external partners and stakeholders.

This is a career graded post and will enable the post holder to gain experience and career progression. At the top of the scale the post holder will manage more complicated planning applications and supervise their own graduate Planning Assistant. The post will therefore be suitable for someone who is already working at a Senior Planning Officer level and looking to develop their supervisory skills or for an experienced Planning Officer who is looking at taking the next step in their career. The post holder will be limited to Grade E until they attain membership of the RTPI at which point they move to SO1 and may progress up to SO2 without any restriction. Progression beyond SO2 to PO1 is subject to the Special Factors as listed in the Job Description being met and evidenced.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking to appoint two experienced planning professionals who are dynamic, motivated, and highly organised to handle a busy caseload of planning applications and be able to meet Government set targets for their determination. You will have recent experience in a development management setting with experience of handling a varied caseload and writing quality reports. You will need to be a team player and be an excellent communicator with good negotiating skills. In addition, you will need to be proactive and solution-focused and able to understand and interpret plans and policies with willingness to contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service.
