Charnwood is a vibrant and exciting borough with a population of 180,000 located between the three cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. The main urban centre is the thriving university town of Loughborough and this is complemented by small towns and villages set within attractive countryside.
The Opportunity
There is a challenging agenda for growth in Charnwood and the wider Leicester and Leicestershire area. This role provides an opportunity to make a significant and immediate contribution to this working with partners across the area to support the preparation of the Strategic Growth Plan and in leading the Council’s local plan and CIL to adoption. It will also involve leading the Council’s Biodiversity Strategy and Design Code. We will offer you plentiful and varied experience in a key management role within our Planning and Growth Service and an opportunity to develop your management skills in leading the Local Plan Team and our team of heritage, landscape, ecology and design specialists in the Natural and Built Environment Team.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, motivated and organised planning professional with substantial experience of planning policy preparation and experience of leading local plans through to adoption. You may already be leading a local plan team or be looking to make the next step in your career towards management. You will need to be a team player with a positive approach, willing to contribute to the delivery of transformational change and continuous improvement to secure excellent customer service.
