Charnwood Borough Council is seeking a skilled Data Protection and Information Security Officer to support the development and implementation of Information Security policies. This role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, including the Data Protection Act and GDPR. As part of the ICT team, the successful candidate will manage data protection requests, conduct risk assessments, and support incident response procedures. They will provide expert advice to departments, lead training initiatives, and contribute to the Council's information governance strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage data protection requests and data subject access requests in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support information security controls implementation.
  • Support incident response procedures and contribute to information governance activities.
  • Provide expert advice to departments on data protection and information security matters.
  • Lead training initiatives and contribute to awareness campaigns across the Council.
  • Contribute to the Council's overall information governance strategy and policy development.
