Deliver Projects That Make a Real Difference
This is an opportunity to lead high-impact infrastructure schemes that directly improve accessibility on railway stations across the UK rail network. As a Project Manager, you will take ownership of Access for All (AfA) projects delivered as part of a long-term Network Rail CP7 framework. These multi-disciplinary schemes typically range from £5m–£10m and include step-free access routes, new footbridges, lift installations, and major station upgrades.
You will manage a portfolio of 2–4 schemes at varying stages of their lifecycle, with current works including Bushey (Hertfordshire) and Southend-on-Sea stations. You’ll join a financially strong Tier 1 contractor with a secured pipeline of rail frameworks and a proven reputation for collaborative delivery within an intelligent client environment.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Genuine project ownership – full lifecycle responsibility from early design through to handover
- Interesting, multi-disciplinary projects that you will shape and lead
- Long-term CP7 framework security and workload visibility
- Supportive, delivery-focused culture with minimal bureaucracy
- Hybrid working model with flexibility
- Clear progression pathway to Senior Project Manager and beyond
What You’ll Be Trusted With
- Leading safe, sustainable, high-quality project delivery
- Managing programme, commercial performance, and risk
- Delivering works within live operational rail environments
- Coordinating complex multi-disciplinary packages including:
- Civil & structural works (e.g. footbridges over live railways)
- M&E and lift installations
- Rail telecoms (CIS / PA systems)
- Platform and station modifications
This role offers real visibility, autonomy, and decision-making responsibility, not just oversight.
The Environment
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, planners, commercial specialists, and designers within a business that values:
- Safety and accountability
- Professional integrity
- Open communication
- Continuous improvement
The company actively invests in professional development and promotes from within. As workload increases across the CP7 framework, strong performers will have genuine opportunities to step into more senior leadership roles.
About You
You’ll be a delivery-driven rail Project Manager who thrives in operational environments and takes pride in delivering complex infrastructure projects successfully. You’ll likely bring:
- Experience delivering multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects with a Tier 1 main contractor
- Experience managing schemes or major packages up to £10m
- Strong understanding of working on or around operational railways
- NEC contract knowledge
- Excellent stakeholder and interface management capability
- Confidence leading teams and driving performance
