HS2 Ltd is recruiting a Project Engineer – Principal Designer Coordinator (CDM) to support the effective coordination and assurance of Principal Designer duties across the entire HS2 programme, which includes 4 Main Works Civils Contracts, 4 Station Contracts & 12 Rail System Contracts. This is an excellent opportunity to work across the largest infrastructure programme in Europe, gaining exposure to major civils, stations and rail systems contracts while helping to embed best practice in Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
About the Role
- Support the coordination of Principal Designer Representatives across Phase 1
- Assist in assuring that Principal Designer duties are effectively discharged by HS2 and its supply chain
- Contribute CDM input to design reviews and technical assurance meetings
- Identify, track and escalate CDM-related risks and issues on SafetiBase 4D - HS2’s digital hazard management database.
- Support reporting and performance monitoring, including digital metrics.
- Undertake site visits to understand construction activities and CDM risks
- Help translate CDM 2015 requirements into consistent HS2 good practice
- Stakeholder Manage Heads of Engineering (principle Designer representatives) within HS2 and Lead Designers within Consulting organisations to assure the
About You
We’re looking for candidates from a range of backgrounds, including CDM Advisors, Project Engineers, Design Managers or Assurance professionals, from client, consultant or contractor environments. You’ll bring:
- A good working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and Principal Designer duties
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary engineering or safety activities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex project environment
- An interest in digital engineering and data-driven reporting (e.g. Power BI, risk management software)
- Ideally have Rail experience but still open to other background such as – heavy civils, Major Infrastructure, Power etc
