Physical Security Manager HS2 💼 Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 Birmingham £50 – 55,000 London £55 – 60,000 💰 Benefits: 12% Pension + Healthcare + 25 Days Holiday 🚀 Progression: Clear path to Senior Security Manager (£80k–£86k + package) 📍 Location: Birmingham or London (Hybrid – 3 days in office, flexibility to use regional offices) Looking for a Physical Security Manager to work for the client organisation on the High Speed Two programme responsible for ensuring & assuring that the physical security designs and the physical security-built assets across the entire 140miles of HS2 (except the stations) are per the contract & regulatory requirements. The Opportunity Join HS2, one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes, as a Physical Security Manager — ensuring world-class protection and resilience across the 140-mile high-speed rail route. This is a pivotal security assurance role, overseeing the design and delivery of physical security systems for operational HS2 assets — including tunnels, viaducts, bridges, shafts, control rooms, depots, and other critical infrastructure (excluding stations). You’ll be part of the team responsible for ensuring that all physical security measures — from CCTV and access control to alarms, blast resistance, and intrusion detection — are designed, implemented, and assured to meet the standards and regulatory requirements. The Role Reporting to a Senior Security Manager, you’ll work route wide, collaborating with civils and rail systems contractors to ensure compliance and where necessary the confidence to challenge their designs & built assets. Key Responsibilities: * Support the implementation of HMG Security Policy Framework and guidelines, reviewing designs and advising on best practice. * Liaise with stakeholders such as Police Counter Terrorism Security Advisers (CTSAs) and Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs). * Present security design justifications to the HS2 Security Steering and Design Panels. * Provide security input to the HS2 Project Hazard Record, analysing threats and ensuring compliance. * Support senior security leadership in maintaining strategic relationships with DfT Land Security, CPNI, and British Transport Police (BTP). * Ensure all physical security design and implementation is fully compliant with UK legislation and HS2 standards. Candidate Profile We’re looking for a Physical Security professional with experience in assuring and reviewing security designs within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) or other regulated environments such as: * Rail, aviation, maritime, oil & gas, nuclear, power, water, defence, utilities etc Ideal candidates will have: * Experience in physical security assurance or advisory roles. * Familiarity with national security frameworks and design standards. * Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. * A proactive, collaborative approach to managing multiple interfaces.
