Location: Old Oak Common, London NW10 – Hybrid Working (3 days on site)

Salary: £58,000 – £66,000 plus 12% pension, private healthcare, 25 days holiday. Progression to Senior H&S Manager (£75k – £85k+).

Programme: Long-Term Programme Security | Major National Infrastructure Programme.

This role supports safe delivery across the national infrastructure programme for the Old Oak Common Station development (the UK's best-connected rail station).

The Role

  • Worked client-side for HS2, on-site Health & Safety assurance lead – the eyes and ears across the project.
  • Reporting to a Senior H&S Manager, will work closely with Tier 1 contractors and supply chain partners to ensure robust Health, Safety & Security standards are consistently maintained across a complex live construction environment.
  • Must bring strong practical judgement, site presence, the confidence to advise and challenge contractors, coach, influence, collaborate and intervene when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a visible ambassador for HS2's 'Safe at Heart' culture across the project
  • Deliver site-based H&S assurance activities across major construction works
  • Support proactive risk identification and mitigation across live delivery environments
  • Work closely with contractors to improve Health & Safety performance in real time
  • Support investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned activities
  • Ensure compliance with HS2 Health, Safety & Security policies and standards
  • Support occupational health, workplace safety, site access, and wellbeing initiatives
  • Provide practical H&S advice to delivery teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Participate in inspections, audits, assurance reviews, and incident investigations

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience within major infrastructure, heavy civils, rail, utilities, aviation, highways, or complex construction projects
  • Strong practical site-based Health & Safety experience
  • Experience supporting or conducting incident investigations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to influence contractors and delivery teams in a collaborative but firm manner

Desirable Backgrounds

  • Rail infrastructure or station projects
  • Major civil programmes such as HS2, Crossrail, Tideway, airports, highways, or large-scale developments
  • Experience within client-side assurance or Tier 1 contractor environments
