Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional association football club based in Charlton, south-east London. The club was founded on June 9th, 1905 and has a storied history in English Football. Currently, our men’s first team competes in League One, and our women’s team competes in the Women’s Championship. At Charlton, we are ‘one club’ and can be truly described as a ‘family club’.
Role Description:
Reporting directly to the Content Manager, the purpose of the role shall be to film and edit high-quality video content for the club’s official website and social media channels.
The successful candidate will develop a working relationship with the club’s players and staff and focus on creating content that engages and entertains the club’s fanbase, driving engagement across the club’s channels and supporting the objective to reach and engage local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend all men’s first-team home matches and two-thirds of away games on a rotational basis
- Lead the filming and editing of video-based content for the club’s website and social media channels
- Assist with the delivery of CharltonTV
- Ensure that the club’s video archive is kept up to date
- Manage all video and editing equipment
- Generate ideas for new forms of content across all social media channels
- Assist with commercial and other club-related activities, as required
- Work with the content team to ensure video output develops a stronger brand presence
- Collaborate with team members, ensuring standards are consistent and relationships are positive
- Uphold departmental working practices and behaviours appropriate to the club’s vision and values
- Monitor personal performance at work, contributing to personal objectives and team goals
Education/Qualifications/Training:
- University degree or relevant experience in this field with another professional football/sports club
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
- Passion for creating video content (Essential)
- Experience capturing video content and setting up multi-camera shoots and lighting (Essential)
- Knowledge and experience of using Adobe Creative Cloud software (Essential)
- Experience editing video content using Adobe Premiere Pro (Essential)
- Strong understanding of camera formats and settings (Essential)
- Ability to work flexible hours during home and away matchdays, as well as other club events (Essential)
- Good time management skills (Essential)
- Ability to work calmly under pressure (Essential)
- Ability to work well as a team member and as an individual (Essential)
- Proactive in taking on new responsibilities and seeking opportunities to learn (Essential)
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects (Essential)
- Full UK driving licence/ability to travel to various locations (Essential)
- Experience filming and editing video content in a live sports environment (Preferred)
- Knowledge and experience of using Adobe After Effects (Preferred)
- Knowledge and experience of using Adobe Photoshop (Preferred)
- Understanding of the football environment (Preferred)
- Good understanding of social media trends (Preferred)
