Job Details
Job Title: Youth Development Phase Coach (Casual)
Location: Sparrows Lane Training Ground, SE9 2JR
You will be expected to undertake travel as is necessary to fulfil your job requirements and to the satisfaction of Charlton Athletic FC.
Salary: from £12.71 per hour dependent on qualifications
Hours: 16hours per week as required by the programme, including evenings and weekends and potentially Sunday matchdays
We are looking for a Youth Development Phase Coach (Casual) to join our Academy and help young players develop their skills, confidence and understanding of the game.
Working within a professional football environment, you will bring creativity, clarity and care to your coaching, helping players thrive within Charlton Athletic’s Academy development culture.
Reporting to the Head of Coach Development, you will deliver the Academy syllabus across your designated Youth Development Phase age group, leading coaching sessions and games.
You will combine high standards of coaching with a commitment to the wellbeing and development of every young player in your care.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver the Academy syllabus across your designated Youth Development Phase age group
- Lead coaching sessions and games, teaching the fundamentals of football with creativity and clarity
- Ensure player-to-coach ratios comply with the Youth Development Rules
- Oversee the development of Academy players in line with Charlton Athletic’s Academy development culture
- Provide a high standard of care for young people, supporting their welfare throughout coaching and matchday activities
- Complete all necessary coaching and programme administration
- Attend relevant club events and travel with the team as required

Essential Experience / Qualifications
- Minimum UEFA B coaching qualification
- Experience of coaching elite or high-level players of school age
- Ability to coach the fundamentals of the game creatively and clearly within a structured framework
- Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and willingness to travel with the team
- Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check, undertaken by the club
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable Experience / Qualifications
- UEFA A coaching qualification
