About Charlotte Tilbury Beauty
Founded in 2013 by world‑renowned makeup artist and beauty entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury CBE, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty has transformed the global beauty industry with one mission: to empower everyone, everywhere to look and feel like the most confident version of themselves. With our easy‑to‑use, easy‑to‑choose, easy‑to‑gift icons, we’ve become one of the most talked‑about beauty brands on the planet - and the magic is only growing. Today, we’re a global beauty phenomenon, scaling at record speed across 50+ markets with over 3,000 Dream Team members bringing the Tilbury magic to life every single day.
The platform team looks after the infrastructure that supports the Charlotte Tilbury customer experience online, and the platform that our engineers use – from CI/CD pipelines to shared Terraform modules, from security improvements to tooling optimisation. Engineers work in small, nimble teams (squads) that work in SCRUM or Kanban to deliver exciting feature roadmaps. Our squads include Product Managers and Product Designers and part of our DNA as a company is achieving amazing things through collaboration. Engineering squads follow DevOps principles, with teams running what they build – and the platform team sits alongside them, making it easy for them to get it right the first time, making the infrastructure scalable and secure, and making the journey from idea to deployment to support a smooth one.
As a Platform Engineer at Charlotte Tilbury, you will:
- Maintain and contribute to all parts of our AWS platform that creates a luxury shopping experience for our customers.
- Work on platform initiatives that enable our cross‑functional squads to self‑serve when it comes to provisioning infrastructure from the AWS catalogue.
- Contribute to our tooling and the overall developer experience of our engineers, making it easy for them to create, maintain, and own the infrastructure they need, and making the process of building, testing, and deploying services and features fast and frictionless.
- Review and continuously improve our cloud infrastructure, making sure it is secure, performant, and cost‑efficient, and is ready to support the ambitious growth plans for our business.
- Receive mentoring, development, and training to ensure your skills are kept up to date.
- Have an opportunity to contribute to SRE and incident response.
About you:
- Hands‑on experience with running services in the cloud – we use AWS, so AWS is strongly preferred but not essential.
- Experience in designing, maintaining and running production infrastructure using IAC (preferably Terraform).
- Familiarity with core AWS services, we actively use Elastic Container Service, Lambdas, CloudFront, API Gateway, S3, RDS, Route53, ElastiCache.
- Knowledge of cloud CI/CD systems, preferably GitHub Actions, with an understanding of how to handle secrets and privileged access for those systems.
- Grounding in basic networking and connectivity – VPCs, load balancers, routing.
- Experience with Docker, containers and container orchestration platforms.
- Experience in using a scripting language (such as Bash or Python), for CI/CD and general problem‑solving.
- Knowledge of observability concepts and ability to utilise monitoring tools (logs, metrics, dashboards, alerts – we use Grafana) to identify problems and find solutions.
Nice‑to‑haves:
- Hands‑on experience with at least one non‑IAC programming language (Java, Python, Typescript, or any other).
- Familiarity with, and interest in, security, and readiness to consider security implications in every action.
- Experience working in e‑commerce and running commercially critical infrastructure used by tens or hundreds of thousands of customers every day.
- Familiarity with AWS IAM, least privilege, encryption and secure access patterns for services and CI/CD.
You will succeed in this role if you:
- Are curious, proactive and enjoy solving platform problems that enable other engineers.
- Are comfortable working with a range of services in production and understand how they are built, monitored and supported.
- Are self‑motivated, willing to seek solutions and ask for help when needed.
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and refining direction as a team.
- Understand that platform work is not just provisioning infrastructure but helping services run reliably day to day.
- Can communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Are comfortable working across project delivery and operational support.
