We are looking for a Site Services Engineer to provide support to the site engineering team through daily management of all site services, utilities and systems, assist with engineering stock management, carry out building and outdoor maintenance as required, and assist with legal compliance management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent levels of service to the engineering operation through thorough maintenance and management of site service/utilities.
  • Carry out daily checks, tests, optimisation and maintenance on the following site services:
    • Effluent plant – in line with our discharge permit;
    • Compressed air plant;
    • Water softening and distribution system;
    • Refrigeration plant and associated plant;
    • External site water management system.
  • Ensure all engineering procedures are adhered to, and all work carried out to relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a controlled manner in line with the company's technical procedures.
  • Maintain a safe clean working environment for all members of staff on site.
  • Manage contractors if required.
  • Carry out general building/site maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist Engineering manager with site service contract management.

Key Areas of Work

  • Minimise reaction time to site services issues.
  • Ensure all regulatory standards are met (e.g., EA permit).
  • Train operators on new machinery when required.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward maintenance.
  • Promote correct use of equipment.

Health and Safety

  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with company and legal requirements.
  • Follow all engineering health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in the health and safety team and carry out required functions.

People

  • Communicate effectively with operational staff through formal and informal channels.
  • Participate in meetings and trials requiring engineering input.

Quality / Technical Standards

  • Maintain machinery in compliance with quality and technical requirements.
  • Follow site technical procedures for general maintenance.
  • Work closely with the hygiene team to ensure correct cleaning procedures.
  • Proactively improve engineering functions to reduce food safety risk.

New Product Development

  • Assist and support the Engineering team with trials and equipment solutions where necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience

  • Previous experience working in an FMG chilled environment.
  • Experience with compressed air systems.
  • Pumped water systems.
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment.
  • Contract management.
  • Working knowledge of regulations relating to pressure systems and control of legionella.

Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering environment.
