Great news, our award winning Quarry Kitchen in Dulcote (near Wells) is now hiring for a new Team Leader role in our Packing Team. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to develop their skills in a Team Leader position. The purpose of the role is to ensure that we are aligning team members to our cultural values and enabling them to maximise their potential within the business.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver daily team brief and ensure great start of each shift
- Seek feedback from the team and ensure responses followed through in timely manner
- Lead and manage area assigned, including breaks, labour and holiday requests.
- Communicate with other Team Leaders and Team Managers as appropriate to safeguard timely delivery of daily plan
- Manage “change over” between products as appropriate to standard as minimum
- RTW forms completed and support with creating rotas/planning holiday
- Ensure food is produced which meets Key Card standards with quality of the ingredients used which meets our specification
- Ensure H&S standards are maintained by completing H&S walkrounds
- Be responsible for contacting engineering should any breakdowns occur in a timely manner
- All activities comply to GMP and 5S standards, incorporating GMP walkrounds
- In the event of any issues, make sure they are contained and escalated to the shift manager – shift coordinator
- Actively engage in problem solving activities, identifying issues and escalating issues that may affect the production plan
- Identify areas for improvement
- Manage quality assurance in all areas, escalating issues to the technical team
- Maintain accurate job posting in the area as required and ensure accurate data collation (when required)
- Highlight, communicate and resolve any daily issues with the relevant people
- Ensure all batches are produced to the required sequence, cycle times / throughput, weights and line efficiency – as appropriate dependant on area
- Work with your team trainer to create a training plan for team, succession planning and to plan in refresher training
- Complete Progress and Probation reviews on time with SMART objectives

What You’ll Need
- An excellent understanding of Health and Food Safety
- Food production experience
- Ability to work, engage and communicate effectively
- Good level of IT skills
- A general understanding of Bigham’s products
- Work within the company’s rules and policies, introducing procedures where appropriate in conjunction with technical documentation requirements
- Adhere to the health and safety policy of the company and work within its guidelines to ensure personal safety of staff at all times
- Genuine interest in building teams
- High level of Safety and Quality focus
- Highly motivated
- Confident, determined and ambitious
- Excellent communication skills
