Leader tasked with delivering results that make a significant contribution to department or project delivery. Leader engaged with their team performance which is reflected in annual GPTW survey. Leader able to work effectively in each of the Production kitchen roles; ensuring all food we make upholds Bigham’s brand values and sustains customer expectations of quality, whilst working to eliminate wastage, meet line throughput targets and meet legal, GMP and H&S requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Safety of yourself and others – support safety and Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Food Safety & Quality – delivering the Bigham’s standard and driving quality improvements, whilst maintaining a food safe working environment.
  • Service level – ensure service level is delivered in excess of 99%.
  • Plan Attainment – ensure we deliver on our production plans & agreed sequences collaboratively.
  • Performance – continuously look to reduce wastage & improve operational performance.

People

  • Ensure new team members are effectively inducted & trained whilst ensuring new team members have a buddy within the team.
  • Provide regular feedback to the team on their performance through daily / weekly briefings and ensure any feedback is acted upon.
  • Conduct daily welfare check in’s with your team to ensure everyone is in the best condition to work.
  • Ensure Team Members follow our policies, ensuring holiday requests, progress & probation reviews, training logs and RTW Interviews are performed on time & in an appropriate manner.
  • Ensure people management systems are always accurate to ensure issues regarding pay are always avoided.
  • Work with your Production Manager to ensure we are delivering on our GPTW plans and offering sufficient development opportunities to our teams.

Safety & Environment

  • Lead by example when it comes to demonstrating the right safety behaviours and ensure that your team take responsibility for their own safety whilst working in a way that protects others.
  • Ensure that H&S standards are maintained by completing H&S walks, near misses are raised correctly to prevent accidents and safety conversations are held daily.
  • Work with your Production Manager to ensure that near misses have an immediate Root Cause Analysis completed through to a permanent resolution.
  • Ensure waste is segregated effectively & that product losses through drains is eliminated.

Quality

  • Ensure quality standards in your areas are maintained by your teams in accordance to all key cards.
  • Key cards should always be readable & in good condition with key cards being replaced if they are not.
  • Work with your Production Manager to ensure all major non-conformances have an immediate RCA completed through to a permanent resolution.
  • Ensure that all activities comply to GMP & 5S standards, incorporating GMP walk rounds to ensure we all always achieve as high a score as possible.
  • Where necessary, TAYGO is fully followed & teams are empowered to make difficult quality decisions.
  • Working with your team & production managers, take action & close any non-conformances that are raised in your area.

Delivery & Operation Performance

  • Deliver the daily plan, ensuring all batches are produced to the required sequence, cycle times / throughput, weights and efficiency.
  • Deviation from the daily plan should be dealt with collaboratively with other team leaders, resulting in a solution that prevents future issues.
  • Review performance through the shift & highlight any concerns with achieving standard to your Production Manager.
  • Manage breaks & holiday requests to ensure effective running of your team.
  • Manage product change overs as appropriate to standard, beating it where possible.
  • Ensure job postings in your area are completed regularly & accurately, pro-actively communicating any issues.
  • Ensure you have full understanding of materials variance daily, making sure that the stock reporters in your area are communicating variances pro-actively.
  • Communicate any large variances to your Production Manager daily.

Continuous Improvement

  • Carry out basic equipment checks & elevate to the Engineering team should any checks highlight potential issues or if any breakdowns occur.
  • Any issues that should occur should be raised on CMS.
  • Record downtime information, accurately accounting for any lost time.
  • Actively engage in problem solving, identifying opportunities for improvement.

Skills And Knowledge Required

  • An excellent understanding of Health and Food Safety.
  • Food production experience.
  • Ability to work, engage and communicate effectively.
  • Good level of IT skills.
  • An understanding of Bigham’s products and processes.

  • Work within the company’s rules and policies, introducing procedures where appropriate in conjunction with technical documentation requirements.
  • Work with a dedication of delivering products to the market safely, with authenticity, legality & quality.
  • Adhere to the health and safety policy of the company and work within its guidelines to ensure personal safety of staff at all times.
