We are looking for a Category Manager to create category insights to drive narrative and positioning of the Charlie Bigham’s brand.
Responsibilities
- Category reporting - Support the Category Controller on category insight on Tesco & Sainsbury’s; Understand and interpret market data and shopper measures to drive insight led thinking internally & externally; Proactively highlight business opportunities/issues from a category perspective to the Sales & Marketing teams; Responsible for updating internal market reports and presenting back to the business.
- Commercial insight - Provide customer focussed insights and recommendations regarding shopper behaviour, ranging and merchandising; Review Bigham’s promotional performance to determine the strength of incrementality / ‘new to category’ spend; Establish relationships with the relevant customer contacts and attend customer meetings (buyers, category planning managers & merchandisers); Develop account team vision with Sales team and track regularly (including new food development, range, distribution, merchandising).
- Marketing & Consumer insight - Use retailer shopper loyalty data - deliver shopper behavioural analysis to identify shopper targeting & penetration growth opportunities to support Bigham’s wider marketing plans; Support the Category Controller and Head of Innovation on Bigham’s portfolio management, to ensure consumer need states are being met across our range of dishes.
- Category strategy - Utilise and analyse all of Bigham’s retailer EPOS & shopper loyalty data sources to identify long term (> 3 years) category expansion & growth opportunities for the company; Be passionate about incorporating category thinking into all aspects of business.
- Data governance - Manage the accuracy & integrity of Bigham’s category data platforms through database maintenance & category SKU coding; Competent user of Circana/Dunnhumby/Nectar/Kantar.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience - 1 – 2 years’ experience in agency, FMCG Category Exec or retailer background. Understanding of retailer EPOS & Loyalty data platforms (e.g. Circana, Nielsen, Kantar, Dunnhumby, Nectar) is desirable but not required.
- Skills - Competent user of Excel and PowerPoint; Experience of Kantar/Circana (IRI)/Nielsen/Dunnhumby/Nectar (one of the list); Team player; Analytical with critical thinking; Strong written and verbal communications skills; Hands-on; Commercial judgment; Flexibility / adaptability.
- Attributes - Drives for results; Proactive and energetic; Takes personal responsibility; Customer focused; Responds to feedback; Communicates effectively; Innovates and is creative/innovative in finding solutions; Continuously learns; Integrity; Diplomacy.
